Our final jazz contest of the season is coming up! Our schedule for the Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival Thursday, April 17 through Friday, April 18 is as follows:
Thursday
9:00 a.m. – Load the bus
9:15 a.m. – Depart high school
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch (will need money)
3:00 p.m. – St. Louis Zoo
5:00 p.m. – Depart Zoo
5:30 p.m. – Dinner at Fitz’s South County (provided)
7:00 p.m. – Depart Fitz’s
7:30 p.m. – Arrive at Pear Tree Inn (downtime, there is a pool, & others staying there)
9:30 p.m. – Students report to their rooms for inspection
10:00 p.m. – Lights Out
Friday
7:00 a.m. – Wake up, get ready, and eat breakfast (provided at the hotel)
8:45 a.m. – Check-out and load the bus
9:00 a.m. – Depart hotel
9:45 a.m. – Arrive at the University of St. Louis Missouri (split schedule of activities)
Studio Band Schedule
10:00 a.m. – Watch North Point HS
10:50 a.m. - Warm-Up
11:30 a.m. - Perform
12:10 p.m. - Clinic
After your clinic eat lunch at the food trucks (will need money)
1:00 pm - Brass and Saxophone players masterclass on section playing
Rhythm Section masterclass playing in the pocket
Stage Band Schedule
10:00 a.m. - Watch North Point HS
10:30 a.m. - Watch Timberland HS
11:20 a.m. - Warm-Up
12:00 p.m. - Perform
12:40 p.m. - Clinic
After the clinic you can grab lunch at the food trucks (will need money)
Jazz Combo Schedule
10:00 a.m. - Watch North Point HS
11:00 a.m. - Saxophone Masterclass on Improv
Rhythm Section masterclass playing in the pocket
11:40 a.m. - Warm-Up
12:30 p.m. - Perform
1:10 p.m. - Clinic
After the clinic you can grab lunch at the food trucks (will need money)
Everyone
2:00 p.m. – Depart UMSL
2:15 p.m. – Stop by the arch for sight-seeing / pictures
2:45 p.m. - Depart the arch
4:45 p.m.’ish’ – Restroom Break
7:00 p.m. ‘ish’ - Return to Neosho unload
The hotel we are staying at Friday night is the Pear Tree Inn, 1201 Drury Lane, Arnold, MO 63010, (636) 296-9600. Band directors will be on site. Rooms will be checked and doors will be taped by lights out.
The performance is at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri Saint Louis. 1 Touhill Circle, St. Louis, MO. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
What you need to bring: your ALL BLACK dress clothes, your instrument, mallets, sticks, reeds, money for meals/sightseeing/etc., clothes to change into, an overnight bag, extra pillows and blankets if you prefer for sleep, swimsuit if you intend to swim in the time available at the hotel to do so, etc. Bring something to snack on if you will get hungry during the ride there or back.
Breakfast Friday and dinner Thursday will be provided. Students will need money for lunch both Thursday and Friday. Lunch Thursday will be fast food establishments, and on Friday food trucks at the performance venue. Dinner on Thursday will be at Fitz’s South County provided by the boosters.
Be courteous to other groups and to each other over this two-day event! Remember, you are representing the band, music department, the school, and all of Neosho! Please conduct yourselves accordingly!
